Volunteering (updated 04/2008)

Never underestimate the value of a volunteer!

There are many ways to donate time to the Olympic Discovery Trail. Check out the opportunities below, or make your own opportunity by making a suggestion or volunteering a special skill.

Second Saturdays. On the Second Saturday of each month, Peninsula Trails Coalition hosts a volunteer work party, usually performing needed maintenance on the trail. Work could be done for the City of Port Angeles, City of Sequim, or Clallam County. Work parties vary in length, but lunch is always provided to volunteers who RSVP. To find out more, contact Carrie Kalina at peripateticme@hotmail.com or at (360) 681-0420. Or check out the Work Party Status Report Work Party Status Report to find out where and when the next work party will be!

Thursday Crew. Every Thursday, the Clallam County Thursday Trail Crew works on maintenance of the Olympic Discovery Trail in Clallam County, or on trail construction of the Adventure Route portion of the ODT. A typical work day is 9am-3:30pm, and lunch is provided by Peninsula Trails Coalition to those who RSVP. For more information, contact Lorrie Campbell (Clallam County ODT Volunteer Coordinator) at Lcampbell@co.clallam.wa.us or at (360) 565-2606. Check out Thursday Crew photos at this website.

Adopt-a-trail. Read more about how to adopt a piece of trail on the Adopt-a-Trail Adopt a Trail page.

Clallam County Parks. A group of volunteers called the Weekday Wonders Work Crew meets each Tuesday morning from 10am- noon to do work projects for Clallam County Parks, and occasionally on the Olympic Discovery Trail. Bring a sandwich – snacks, drinks, dessert, and sometimes soup is provided. Contact Kathe Smith (Clallam County Parks Volunteer Coordinator) at ksmith@co.clallam.wa.us or at (360) 565-2606. Check out WWWC photos at this website.

Jefferson County. If you live in Jefferson County and want to help on that portion of the ODT contact Linda Carson at carson@cablespeed.com or at (360) 385-0437. More Jefferson County information can be found on our Jefferson Coalition Link.

Peninsula Trails Coalition Board. PTC is always looking for enthusiastic board members. The Board meets on the third Wednesday of each month, and meetings alternate between Sequim and Port Angeles.
