Port Angeles

Port Angeles was designated a "Bicycle Friendly Community" in 2000. It has improved its roadbed shoulders to make biking around town safer and easier. Port Angeles and the Peninsula Trail Coalition have completed another major portion of the Olympic Discovery Trail (fat tires recommended).

It is now possible to bike from Agnew (west of Sequim) on the Old Olympic Highway to Port Angeles almost entirely on the trail. Less Technical Mountain Bike Routes: Spruce Railroad Trail: An easy trail along Lake Crescent in Olympic National Park. This one is for mellow group and family rides, and for enjoying the beauty of the lake. Pass the Shadow Mountain Grocery on 101, right on East Beach Road. Beyond Log Cabin Resort, look for the trailhead signs.

The Olympic Discovery Trail: A rail trail, it will eventually go from Port Townsend to Port Angeles, and possibly points west. It is unpaved, but level, perfect for families. Be sure and visit Railroad Bridge Park on the Dungeness River near Sequim.
